Our History
The Mt. Lebanon Community Foundation was conceived by the community’s Board of Commissioners in early 2002 as an independent entity that would build a permanent fund to support Mt. Lebanon and its unique character. A group of civic minded citizens then took up the mantle and created an operating framework for the organization.
...building a permanent fund to support Mt. Lebanon and its unique character. The initial founders began recruiting additional members of the Board of Directors, drawing from leaders within the community. As the Board was developed, the organization developed leading thoughts on its mission, how its funds would be managed and the best organizational design to meet its objectives. Members of the Board then began the process of creating By-Laws to govern the conduct of the organization and applying for non profit 501(c)(3) status, which was granted late in 2009.
Today, the Mt. Lebanon Community Foundation is an established 501(c)(3) charitable organization and has begun the process of building its permanent fund. |
